Ronald A. Skovera, 83

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  On October 31, 2024 Ronald A. Skovera passed away at the age of 83.

He was born in North Adams, MA on July 10, 1941, a son to the late Alexander Skovera and Rose Pellerin Skovera. Ron was a resident of the Springside Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Pittsfield, MA. He had been there for the past year and a half and in and out of the hospital and care facilities for the past four years due to failing health issues. Ron’s family wants to say “Thank You” to the nurses and staff at Springside for their care that they showed to Ron and especially over the last days of his life.

Ron is survived by his first cousins, Sandy Buoymaster, Linda Smith, Pamela Pellerin, Jim Noel and Robert Noel. Ron had previously worked before his retirement for the City of North Adams, Arnold Print Works in Adams, and Morrison Berkshire Inc in North Adams.

He had a great interest in World War II and could recall just about every firearm that was used during the war. He could recite all the weapons by name and category of each by memory. He read many books about war and was knowledgeable of all of the generals who were involved.

Ron enjoyed doing body work on all the family cars over the years to keep them operating. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling. He followed the stock market every day and could tell you by memory the way each trade was evolving. He would change investments to keep them profitable. He did quite well at that over the years. Ron will be missed; he was a one-of-a-kind type of person.
