Henry Doran, 88
Henry G. Doran, 88, formerly of North Adams, MA, died Thursday October 17, 2024 in Danvers, MA. He was born on September 16, 1936 in North Adams, a son of the late Henry G. and Clara A. (Wojnicki) Doran.
Henry attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Hampden College of Pharmacy in 1958. After college, he joined the US Army Reserve, where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant and served in an Armored Division from 1958-1966. Henry worked as a registered pharmacist in Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont for over four decades. As pharmacy director for the North Adams Regional Hospital, he was responsible for the development and installation of an innovative unit dosage system, a groundbreaking advancement in healthcare delivery at its time. As a member of Rite Aid Corporation, Henry worked both in retail pharmacy and also as a corporate development executive, furthering Rite Aid’s expansion throughout rural New England. Henry was proud of and lived for his children. He was also proud of his community. He was born and raised, worked, and raised a family in his beloved Berkshire Valley.
Henry leaves behind his three children William E. Doran (Terese) of Chicago, IL, John H. Doran of Elmira, NY, and Nancy Sieland (Michael) of Marblehead, MA. He also leaves grandchildren Allison Davidson, Sean Doran, Meghan Doran, Molly Doran, Madison Doran, Cole Sieland, Reese Sieland and sister Carolyn Cheesbro of Palm Coast, FL. Henry is predeceased by his wife Marcia R. (Green) Doran, brother Robert F. Doran, and Sister Margaret “Peggy” Undzis.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A brief memorial service for Henry Doran will be on Saturday November 2, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes- Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St, North Adams, MA 01247. A private burial will take place in Southview Cemetery in the family plot. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made out to the Kaplan Family Hospice House through the funeral home at 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
