Terry Jane Diaz Axt, 59

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. Terry Jane Diaz Axt, 59 of Altoona, Iowa passed away Oct. 11, 2024, after many years of battling numerous health problems.

Terry was born Oct. 23, 1964, in Woonsocket, RI and grew up in numerous locations including Revere, Pownal, Vt and North Adams where she graduated from Drury High School.

Terry went on to obtain her bachelors degree in accounting from North Adams State College, now MCLA.

She also received a certificate in Travel and Tourism from Mildred Elley.

Terry worked in accounting at Berkshire Medical Center, Berkshire Housing and Berkshire Technology Partners after working at Burger King while in school and part-time on and off thereafter.

In 2013, Terry and her husband Lou embarked on an adventure traveling the United States in their vintage Airstream and working seasonal jobs. Terry met many life-long friends while on this adventure and after settling down in Iowa and working in numerous roles for Adventureland Park and Adventureland Inn.

Terry loved crafting and was skilled at beading and crocheting. She was always eager to try new things (and new recipes.)

For the last year Terry was disabled and concentrated on the cooking and homemaker duties she loved so much. If you knew Terry, you knew how good her baked goods were, especially her signature Dutch apple pie.

Terry leaves her husband of 21 years, Louis A. Axt, Jr as well as a brother, David Diaz and Fatima of Virginia, mother-in-law Nancy Axt, sister-in-law Mea Jowett and husband Brian, sister-in-law Deanna Brooks and husband David, her estranged half-sister and mother and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and brothers- and sisters-in-Christ. She also leaves her feline companion, Miss Stash (the cat with a mustache.)

There are no calling hours or immediate service. Terry's ashes will be spread at Acadia National Park.

Memorial donations may be made to your favorite feline shelter.
