Robert G. Bresnahan, 73
Mr. Robert G. Bresnahan Jr., also known as Bob, Bobby, Bres, Dad or Grampie, passed away in his home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, he was 73. Born in Beverly, MA on April 28, 1951, he later moved to the Berkshires to begin his career and his family.
Bob attended schools in Beverly, graduated from Beverly High School, studied at Wentworth and earned his associates degree. He earned his bachelor's degree at North Adams State College. He went on to earn his Master’s in Business Administration from Western New England College, now Western New England University (but it will always be WNEC to him).
Bob started his career at General Electric in Pittsfield in 1973. He worked his way through several company name changes and finished as finance manager for General Dynamics, concluding a career of nearly 40 years, retiring in 2013. In his free time Bob enjoyed golfing, playing cards, watching sports or The History Channel, traveling, and volunteering at the Berkshire Athenaeum or the Berkshire Carousel. He found joy in watching his grandchildren grow up.
He is survived by his former wife of 47 years Shirlee Vincelette Bresnahan, their two daughters, Kelly Riechers and her husband Matthew of Dalton, MA and Carrie Shepard and her husband Scott of Hopedale, MA; four grandchildren: Madeline, Isabella, Olivia and Emmett; three brothers, William Bresnahan and his wife Carol of Tucson, AZ, Richard Bresnahan and his wife Barbara of Wilmington, MA and David Bresnahan and his wife Deborah of Scarborough, ME; his sister, Lyn Leahy and her husband Jay of Hamilton, MA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Caroline Bresnahan of Beverly, MA.
Per Mr. Bresnahan’s request, there are no funeral services or calling hours. A private burial will be held at a later date at Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
