John Joseph Martell, 60 of Pownal, VT died on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. He was born in North Adams, MA on June 22, 1964, a son of the late Clifford and Bertha L. (Richards) Martell.
John attended Mt. Anthony Union High School and Vermont Technical College, Electrician Department. He was a technician at Kaman Composites in Bennington, VT. Earlier he held jobs at Green Mountain Race Track, Eddie’s Supermarket and General Cable. John was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening and hunting.
John leaves his fiancé, Gretchen Thomas whom he resided with; brothers Leon C Martell (Beth) and Valmore A. Martell (Julie); sisters, Jean Bourn (Robert), Nancy Weaver (Richard) and Anne Martell. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Frances Thomas; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Bernie) Rolland; brother-in-law, Dennis L. Thomas (Marguerite) and many nieces including Jasmin (Jacob) Millard, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his father-in- law, Dennis Thomas Sr., sister-in-law Susanna Thomas, nephews Thomas Bourn and Zebulun Weaver.
