Robert "Rusty" Speed, 76

ADAMS, Mass. —

Mr. Robert “Rusty” Speed, 76, of Adams, died on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in North Adams on March 30, 1948, son of the late Russell and Mae (Todt) Speed. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge on May 31, 1971.

Mr. Speed last worked as a truck driver for Adams Trucking Company until he retired. He had also done small engine repair and enjoyed collecting license plates and riding his Harley Davidson.

He is survived by his son Jake Speed and his wife Shannon of Adams and by two grandchildren, Lily and Colby.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 10:00 A.M. in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Rusty was my second cousin through the Todts. We spent a lot of time together as children visiting Each others homes. Over the years we drifted apart but Rusty still was my favorite cousin. May God be with his family during this time of loss.
