Pauline Eva Sweet, 92

STAMFORD, Vt. —  Pauline Eva (Lachapelle) Sweet, 92 of Stamford, Vt., died Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at her home. She was born in North Adams on March 24, 1932 a daughter of Ferrier and Beatrice (Babeu) Lachapelle.

She attended the former Notre Dame Parochial School in North Adams, MA. and graduated from Drury High School. Pauline was employed at the Whitney Dairy Farm in Stamford, Vt., worked as an accountant at Hunter Machine Co. and Morrison Machine Co. and later as a phone operator at North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was a longtime communicant of St. John Bosco Church in Stamford, VT. Pauline loved spending her summers at Lake Dunmore, VT playing cribbage with her husband, family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to Vermont lakes and rivers fishing with her husband, children and grandchildren. She used her love of cooking to assist in creating the Stamford Fire Department Auxiliary cookbooks that her family uses daily.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Eugene Curwood Sweet whom she married on November 3, 1951 in North Adams and passed away on December 18, 1995.

Survivors include her four loving children, Dianne Gagne (Steven) of Arizona, Cindy Sweet of Vermont, Steven Sweet (Joanne) of New York and Mark Sweet of Vermont. She also leaves grandchildren Tamara, Kelly, Joshua, Christopher, Katrina, Steven II and Bryan as well as several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Cheryl Ann Schmidt who died December 4, 2015 and a brother Edmond Lachapelle who died April 6, 2021.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Pauline Sweet will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA.
