Priscilla C. Ziter, 99
ADAMS, Mass. — Priscilla Christina (Bashara) Ziter passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 3rd to be with her loved ones. She departed surrounded by her loving family and caring staff at North Adams Commons. This is how Ma’s life on earth ended as she ascended into heaven, but how can one condense 99 years into a few brief paragraphs? She was beautiful. Proud woman, wife, mother and grandmother (Sitto) who found joy in her children and grandson’s accomplishments. She loved to share stories, jokes and laughter. Tough but loving to a fault. My wish is that you remember her with a smile.
Born in Adams on July 18,1925 to Charles and Christena (Mekdeci) Bashara, she attended and graduated from Adams High School. After just 1 date George P. Ziter proposed to her and they were married September 4, 1950 at the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams, living a loving life until his passing June 29,1984.
In her early years she assisted in the family business, Bashara’s Variety in Adams, later employed at Waverly Fabrics and the Berkshire Inn. Passionate about all types of dancing she performed with her son Victor in the Middle Eastern Ensemble. Her most fulfilling “job” was as a homemaker, known for her superb Lebanese cooking and hospitality; also fluent in the language, her Lebanese roots were apparent. She is predeceased by her husband and siblings: Mary Thomas; Frederick, Philip, Francis, and Charles Bashara. She leaves her son Victor Ziter, daughter Christina Ziter and grandson Derek Koffi Ziter, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Souad Aboughanem Bashara, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Insha’Allah Tislamm, Allah Yarhama (Rest in Peace, God have Mercy on her soul).
