Derrick John Wissman, 60

FLORIDA, Mass. —  Derrick John Wissman, 60 of Florida, MA passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Greenfield, MA on March 25, 1964. The son of Russell & Marjorie (Turner) Wissman.

Derrick graduated from the Greenfield School System. He then went on to attend Keene State College, graduating with a degree in safety and environmental science. He was employed as a Project Manager at Atlas Technical Consultants (ATC Associates Inc.) of West Springfield, MA.

Derrick was an avid snowmobiler, and a devoted member of the Florida Mountaineers Snowmobile Club. He participated in the coordination of the Fat Bastard Snowmobile and Poker Run over the last 20 years. Derrick enjoyed golf and helped with the organization of the annual Pig n Putt at Louie’s Links. He golfed in the Monday night men’s league at the Stanford Valley Golf Course. Derrick had a passion for music. He frequently quizzed his family and friends on the ins and outs of every song on his playlist. He loved spending time with his Granddaughter Ayla, as she always put a smile on his face. He was a Washington Redskins fan, much to the heckling of his family and friends. Every Sunday consisted of breakfast in his garage, ready to watch football, Star Trek, golf at Louie’s Links, or go on a snowmobile ride.

Survivors include his parents, Russell and Marjorie Wissman of Greenfield, wife, Monica (Larson) Wissman of Florida, children, Jalen Wissman (Brianna Pellegrini), Kirby Wissman (Brenna), Kasha Tworig (Conner), and Miranda Wissman (Jeff Bink). Granddaughter Ayla Tworig, a grandson on the way, and an extensive group of family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Deborah Lewis of Turners Falls, MA in 2011.

“Live long and prosper.”

FUNERAL NOTICE: Please join us for a breakfast celebration of life on Sunday, August 18, 2024 anytime between 10-2 PM at his home, 138 Tilda Hill Road, Florida, MA. Monica and family & friends
to say I'm sorry seems trivial, but I am. Many good times and memories made for sure "on the mountain". A little help on those weird shots or beautiful days to ride will be courtesy of Derrick hanging out with you all.
Again, condolences to all.
