Helen Ruth (Lesure) Shields, 100 of Rowe, MA died on Monday, July 29, 2024 in Pittsfield, MA.

was born in Stamford, VT on November18, 1923, a daughter of Grover “Carl” and Bessie (Brothers) Lesure. She attended schools in Stamford, VT and graduated from Drury High School. She was employed a Sprague Electric. She also served the community of Rowe working as the Postmaster and the Town Clerk.

She married her husband Peter E. Shields, who predeceased her on May 8, 1997.

Helen loved all the cats and dogs, and she especially loved to sing. She was a member for the Stamford Community Church and Shelburne Trinity Episcopal Church.

Helen is survived by three brothers; Lawrence Lesure, Charles Lesure and Richard Lesure. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grand nieces and nephews, including a special niece and her family, Melissa Nicholson of Pittsfield who treated her like a second mother and grandmother. Melissa’s family included her for every holiday, vacations and special occasions. Helen was predeceased by her sister; Bernice E. Plantier and brothers; Nelson Lesure, Floyd Lesure, Gordon Lesure, Gerald Lesure, Ronald Lesure and Paul Lesure.

NOTICE: The funeral for Helen Ruth Shields will be held at the Stamford, VT Community Church on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:00 A.M, with calling hours will be held in the church directly prior to the service from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the North Cemetery in Rowe. Donations in Memory of Helen Ruth Shields may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA.
