Joann Aubin, 78

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Joann Ellen (St. Denis) Aubin, 78, of North Adams died on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in North Adams on September 9, 1945 to the late Harold and Dorothy (Dean) St. Denis.

Joann graduated from McCann Technical High School with the class of 1965. She was last employed by Aramark Services at MCLA until her retirement.

For over 30 years, Joann was a prominent member of the Berkshire County Line Dancing Team. On top of assisting in the growth of the team, she also traveled and participated in competitions throughout the country - competitions in which she/they took home many awards. Joann was constantly volunteering her time as an active member of the Greylock Community Club, VFW, Eagles and more. She also was an avid knitter, crocheting many beautiful pieces, was the queen of arts and crafts and loved to bake. She went above and beyond for family parties and all holidays to ensure everyone felt the magic in whatever the celebration was. Joann loved to travel, especially to a beach, and spending time with family and friends. Known by “Meme” to all who knew her, she was a genuine soul who will be very much missed.

Survivors include her loving husband, Raymond E. Aubin whom she married on October 29, 1966 and had one son, Dana (Lori) Aubin of Williamstown, and two daughters, Kelly (Scott) Nichols of Pittsfield and Paula Aubin of North Adams; one brother James St. Denis of Texas and several nieces and nephews. Joann’s greatest joys in her life are her 3 grandchildren, Kyle Aubin, Jaclyn Aubin Freitag (Matthew), and Morgan Fortin. More recently added to that list is her great grandson Theo. Joann was predeceased by a brother, Harold St. Denis.

TO ALL THE AUBIN FAMILY...

I AM SO VERY SORRY TO HEAR OF JOANNE'S PASSING.. I KNEW HER BREIFLY THROUGH MY BROTHER RAYMOND, SO MANY YEARS AGO... THEN ABOUT 25YRS AGO, I MET UP WITH JOANNE AT THE BEAUTY PARLOR.. SHE DID NOT RECONIZE ME, SO I SAID TO HER AND THE GIRL DOING JOANNES HAIR.. DID YOU KNOW THAT JOANNE IS SOME-WHAT OF A CELEBRATY??? JOANNE WAS CONFUSED SOMEWHAT.. SO THEN I HAD SAID.. JOANNE WON MANY DANCE CONTEST ON AMERICAN BANDSTAND IN PA , WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER.. JOANNE WAS SHOCKED SOME.. THEN ASKED ME WHO I WAS.. SO I GAVE HER MY NAME.... JOANNE WAS SO SHOCKED THAT ANYONE EVER REMEMBERED HER ATTENDING AMERICAN BANDSTAND IN PA..... IT WAS NICE TO RUN INTO HER AGAIN AFTER SO MANY YEARS.. ... R.I.P JOANN.. FLY WITH THE ANGELS
