Bernice Sherman, 95

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mrs. Bernice J. (Wilbur) Sherman, 95, of Adams, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Williamstown Commons.

She was born in Adams on July 27, 1928, a daughter of the late Clifford and Wilhelmina (Kiontke) Wilbur. She attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1946.

Mrs. Sherman worked as a payroll clerk for the former Pfizer Company and the Specialty Minerals in Adams until her retirement. Earlier she had worked for the former F. W. Woolworth Store in Adams.

She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church, Adams. She had been a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and had been the past grand worthy advisor of the Rainbow Girls. Bernice especially enjoyed any events with her girls, her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughters.

Her husband, Percival E. Sherman, whom she married on August 12, 1950, died on May 15, 2013.

She is survived by her daughter Jean Sherman of Adams; her granddaughter Tara Aldrich and her husband Keith and by four great granddaughters, Hanna, Hayley, Brooke and Bree.

She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Sherman and by her infant brother Clifford E. Wilbur, Jr.

Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
