Holly Saunders, 63

ADAMS, Mass. —

Holly Marie (Garand) Saunders, 63, of Adams, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at her home.

She was born in North Adams on December 20, 1960, daughter of Mary (Stackpoole) Garand and the late Raymond Garand. She attended school in Williamstown and graduated from Mt. Greylock High School with the class of 1979.

At the time of her death, Holly was a legal assistant for Rumbolt Law in Williamstown. She had also worked as a legal assistant for other local law firms. Holly was witty, funny, and sarcastic by nature. She was also extremely kind and compassionate. She had a passion for playing guitar, singing, karaoke, and gardening. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed reading in her spare time. Over the years Holly adored taking care of her birds, especially Merlin. She loved spending time with friends and family sharing laughs and playing games particularly Yahtzee. Holly’s most cherished memories were camping and sitting by a fire with her daughter Kate.

Besides her mother of Williamstown, she is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Kate) Saunders of Adams; her long time companion and best friend, Thomas Saunders of Adams; her brother Gary Garand and his wife Terri of Virginia, two nieces and step daughter Alyssa Saunders and her companion James McEvilla of Vermont.

Per Holly’s wishes, there are no funeral services.

I knew Holly for about 30 years, through all of the lawyers she took care of. She was smart. She was direct. She was dependable. She was reliable. And while she took the work most seriously, she was both fun and funny - not easy in one of the most difficult professions. All for whom she worked were fortunate to have her on their team and benefited by her intelligence and loyalty. Godspeed, Holly.
