David Carl Daugherty, 70
David Carl Daugherty "DA" of Jackson, MS, formerly of North Adams MA, went to his eternal home on Monday evening, Feb. 5, 2024, at the age of 70 after a battle with cancer.
He is predeceased by his father Carl Daugherty, his brother Marvin Daugherty and sister Khalilah Karim-Rushdan.
David was chief engineer, "Chief", at the King Edward Hotel in Jackson, MS for many years until his retirement in 2021. He enjoyed fishing when the weather was good and spending time with family and friends. He loved watching westerns and horror movies and was known to take a road trip or two. He was kindhearted and thoughtful, always ready to lend a hand or give an encouraging word. David was joyful, always humming or singing a song or whistling a tune, with a smile on his face.
He graduated from Drury High, class of 1971 and enjoyed his 50th class reunion not long ago.
David is survived by his wife, the former Gloria Greene of Jackson MS, his mother Lois (Daugherty) Nelson of North Adams, his children Shannon Daugherty of North Adams, Aja (Daugherty) Callender of North Adams, Saniyah Uqdah of Baldwin, GA and Robert Nelson of Phoenix AZ.
David also leaves his siblings – Carla (Dennis) Holness of Ft. Lauderdale FL, Alex Daugherty (Susan Tassone) of Clarksburg MA, Jill Daugherty, Wendi Daugherty-Gore, and Terri Daugherty – of North Adams MA – as well as grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life for David will be held locally at a later unscheduled date.
