David Ronald Mattimore, 82

STAMFORD, Vt. —  David Ronald Mattimore, 82 of Stamford died on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born in North Adams, on August 1, 1941 a son of the late Jean (Nicol) Mattimore & Francis Joseph Mattimore.

David attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School. He was a decorated Army veteran, who proudly & humbly served his country. David worked for Sprague Electric and then began employment in 1968 at Massachusetts Electric/National Grid to retirement after 32 years. David served the town of Stamford in many capacities; a Selectman, Constable, Fire Warden, and Fire Chief.

Survivors include his loving wife, of 60 years, June “Terry” (Haun) Mattimore of Stamford, his children, Diane (Richard) Lesniak of Clarksburg, Mary Ellen (Patrick) Kelly of Templeton, MA, Col. David R. (Lori) Mattimore Jr of Hampton, NH, Christine (Jeffrey) Bouchard of Spartanburg, NC, and Denise (Jean) Fahey of Pownal, VT. He also leaves his grandchildren, Heather Calnan, Hilary Shepley, Courtney Eaton, Connor Kelly, Matthew Mattimore, Alexander Mattimore, Michael Bouchard, Emily Bouchard, Reagan Fahey, Jocelynn Fahey, Kaylin Fahey, and John David Fahey; as well as two great grandchildren, Remington Calnan and Lily Shepley. He was also predeceased by a twin brother, Francis Mattimore and a sister in infancy, Mary Ellen Mattimore.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for David Mattimore will be private. Burial will be in the springtime in Millard Cemetery - Stamford, VT with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stamford Volunteer Fire Department or Dorset Equine Rescue through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes- WEST CHAPEL 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247. Just found out about David's passing and want to express my deepest sympathy to all of the Mattimore family! I have so many fond memories of double dating over our high school years.
