Philip H. Grandchamp, 85

ADAMS, Mass. —

Philip Henry Grandchamp, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2024. He was born on January 21, 1939 in Springfield, MA. He was raised in Wilbraham, MA and graduated from Wilbraham & Monson Academy. In the summers he was employed by Rice Fruit Farm where he acquired a lasting love of the outdoors, gardening and growing fruit. He was a graduate of UMass Amherst where he received a degree in history and was president of TKE fraternity. He attended Boston College Law School and was selected to be on the Law Review.He met Margaret “Peggy” (Moore) on a blind date, married soon after and shared 60 loving years together. Upon Phil’s graduation from law school, they moved to the beautiful Berkshires where they raised their children and made countless friends. Phil was an outstanding and well-respected attorney and partner at the law firm of Donovan & O’Connor for 43 years.

Phil was on the Board of Directors of the MCLA Foundation, Berkshire Community College and the Chamber of Commerce, a MA State Lottery Commissioner and a volunteer for many organizations, including the Lions Club and the Parish of St. John Paul II.

Phil loved the outdoors. In the Berkshires, it was hunting, raising chickens and pigs, canoeing and golfing at Taconic Golf Club where he was a long time member. In Little Compton, Rhode Island, he enjoyed spending time at the beach and loved riding the waves, biking, fishing and being with family and friends. His passion for gardening and “living off the land” continued throughout his life, as did his passion for soccer, faithfully following the English Premiere on “Soccer Saturdays”.

In addition to his wife Peggy, Phil is survived by his son Jeff (Laura), daughters Anne Grandchamp and Amanda Carpenter (Dan) and five grandchildren, Ava and Claire Howe and Ethan, Connor and Bailey Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Alice (Senecal) Grandchamp and sister, Doris Callan.

Calling hours are Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 5-7pm at PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, MA. Funeral services celebrating Phil will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, 21 Maple St. in Adams. Burial services will be private.
