Claudette Marcil, 83
ADAMS, Mass. — Claudette Marcil, 83, of Adams, passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2024 at the Berkshire
Medical Center in Pittsfield, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Adams on April 13, 1940, daughter of the late Sylva and Aurore (Sweeney) Marcil. She attended Adams schools and was a graduate of Adams Memorial High School in 1958. Claudette was a homemaker most of her life. She was dedicated to her family, and a loving mom, grandmother and great grandmother, enjoying family life, filled with harmony and peace. She enjoyed motherhood and raising her children and being involved in the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, the outdoors, crafts, crocheting and sewing. Claudette was a communicant of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams, where she was involved working for the church bazaar and was a member of the parish council for several years. In 1995, she was received into the Lay Carmelites Third Order of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and professed in 1997. She is survived by her former husband, John W. Martischnig of Rome, GA; a daughter, Mary Anne Martischnig and her husband Russell Lee Cote of Adams, two sons, John L. Martischnig and his wife Lisa of Wichita Falls, TX; Gary Martischnig and his partner Henry Gelinas of Tamworth, NH. Nine grandchildren, Ashley C. Schroeder, John J. Martischnig, Anthony R. Martischnig, Kathleen M. Russo, David J. Smith, Krissy Smith, Jamie Lee Stokes, Nathan R. Cote, Macy Lee Matton and thirteen great grandchildren, Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Jeanne Martischnig, a brother, Oliver Marcil; and a great grandson, Chase Robert Schroeder. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Claudette will take place Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10AM in Notre Dame Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St. in Adams will be Thursday from 4 to 6PM.
