Judith A. Chenail
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Judith A. Chenail, 75, passed away peacefully at home on January 4th, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family. A life-long resident of Pittsfield, she was born on June 3rd, 1948 to Alfred J. and Alice M. (Ochs) Hamling, a gift on their 4th anniversary.
Judith graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1966 and married her husband of 55 years, Robert J. Chenail on August 31st, 1968.
Pre-marriage, Judith worked for Shaeffer Eaton Paper Co. Once her youngest child started elementary school Judi began her Real Estate career with Century 21 Realty; where she thrived for more than 30 years. Post retirement she worked for Molari Services as a devoted, loving PCA.
A member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Judith enjoyed helping with the childrens’ activities. She was a member of the Pregnancy Support Services for the Right to Life organization. Outside of church, she made rosaries for the missions.
Judith was an active, life long member of TOPS MA 9, and for relaxation she enjoyed spending time with a house full of family on the Cape, walking with friends at Onota Lake and going on a casino trip.
In addition to her husband, Robert of Pittsfield, MA, Judith leaves four children, Michael A. (Amy) Chenail of Rocklin, CA, Michelle A. (David) Henderson of Pittsfield, MA, Master SGT. USAF, Marc A. (Jennifer) Chenail of Montgomery, AL, Matthew A. (Kelly) Chenail of Enfield, CT, as well as 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Judith also leaves behind her brother John Hamling of Benicia, CA, her brother Joe Hamling, and her sister Patricia Watroba, both of Pittsfield. Her sister-in-laws Donna Chenail and Robin Hamling both of Williamstown, and brother-in-law Peter Provenzano of Canaan, NY, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. Judith is predeceased by her parents, brother Daniel Hamling, twin sister Jane Provenzano, and brother-in-laws Richard Chenail and Peter Watroba.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held, Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
