Franklin P. McLaren, 78

ADAMS, Mass. —

Mr. Franklin P. McLaren, 78, of Adams, died on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at his home. Ab Origine Fidus--A belief this good, generous and caring man lived by.

He was born in North Adams on March 29,1945, a son of the late Franklin and Ruth (Dumouchel) McLaren. Frank had a very strong sense of fairness and wanted to know what the truth was both historically and present day. He believed that more fairness would benefit the world today. Proud of his Celtic and French origins, he was interested in genealogy and celebrated the cultural traditions.

He attended schools in Adams and graduated with the Adams Memorial class of 1963. There he played varsity football and basketball. He attended Villanova University and completed his BS in Industrial Arts education at Gorham State College, Maine in 1969. Frank went on to receive a Master of Ed. from Westfield State College.

Frank began his career in the Adams-Cheshire schools teaching a variety of Industrial Arts and technical courses for 29 years. During this time in Adams, he instructed a small engine repair course for the Adult Education Program, coached the girls JV softball team and served as the local president of the AFL-CIO Federation of Teachers’ Union. He retired after completing an additional 10 years of teaching in the Berlin, NY school district.

He was a faithful communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II, Adams, as well as a longtime member of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams.

Frank had auto mechanics in his blood helping his father operate Franklin Motors in Adams. His interest in Formula 1 racing favored the McLaren Racing Team.

greatest love and dedication was for his family. He was the primary caregiver for both his parents. He celebrated birthdays, attended sporting events that family participated in and found joy in time spent with brothers, sisters and his multitude of nieces and nephews. Uncle Frank was the weaver that kept our family bound together. Thank you, Frank. Your quiet presence will be physically missed, but your spirit will always be present with us and in us. Ab Origine Fidus: Faithful from the Beginning.

He is survived by his two brothers, Brian McLaren (Kathleen) of Adams and Thomas McLaren (Wanda) of Wilmington, MA; his two sisters, Mary Kondel and Jane Russett (Larry), both of Adams; his two sisters-in-law, Anne McLaren of Woburn, MA and Cheryl McLaren of Adams, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

McLaren Family,
I was saddened to read of Franklin's passing. He was certainly dedicated to his family members and their children. He was reserved in his demeanor but astute in his convictions.I found Franklin to be a sincere, honest and encompassing individual. I know he had a strong belief in the Lord's workings. Rest peacefully in the arms of our ever loving God. With sincere sorrow and prayers to the Mclaren Family, you are in my thoughts !
