William E. Lyman, Sr., 85

CHESHIRE, Mass. —

Mr. William E. Lyman, Sr., 85, of Cheshire, died early Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Pittsfield on April 9, 1938, a son of the late William L. and Adele C. (DeCelles) Lyman and graduated from the former Dalton High School with the Class of 1958.

Bill served with the US Army from January1959 until his Honorable Discharge as a Specialist 4th Class in April of 1962.

He worked as a machine operator and in the shipping department at Crane & Co. in Dalton for 33 years until his retirement.

Bill enjoyed football, running, biking, travelling, and spending time with his “fur babies”.

He Is survived by his wife of 63 years, Renate M. (Scheffler) Lyman; two sons, Michael Lyman and his companion Debbie Bassett, of Adams and William Lyman, Jr. and his companion Michelle Rogers, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Deborah Morey of Cheshire; three grandchildren, Jayson, Brandon and Candace; three great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Kali and Nolan, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private for his family. There are no calling hours.
