Leon Sucharzewski Sr., 98

Leon Joseph Sucharzewski Sr, 98, formally of Hoosac Tunnel, MA, died Monday October 16, 2023 at Williamstown Commons.

Leon was born in New Haven, CT on March 19, 1925, a son of the late John and Josephine (Sikowski) Sucharzewski. He attended schools in Readsboro, VT and graduated from Drury High School. Leon was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, Serving in WWII. After serving Leon married his wife Margaret Mowe at St. Joachim Church on June 5, 1948. He was employed at Deerfield Gasline for 32 years as a machinist. Leon then worked for Yankee Atomic Electric where he retired in 1987.

Leon was a devoted communicant for St. Anthony and St. Elizabeth Church in North Adams.

Leon is survived by his wife Margaret (Mowe) Sucharzewski, sons Leon J. Sucharzewski Jr. (Susan) of Concord, NC, David A. Sucharzewski (Karen) of Shelburne Falls, MA. He also leaves grandchildren Amy Zambotti, Gina Myers (John), Sara Kingsbury (Jeremy), Michael Sucharzewski (Randi), and ten great-grandchildren. Leon also leaves Sister Maryann Berry (Ray) of Westboro, MA, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and a grand nephew. He was predeceased by his sisters Elizabeth Sucharzewski and Frances Bird, brothers Thomas and Paul Sucharzewski.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in the family lot. Calling Hours will be Friday from 5-7 P.M. at Flynn & Dagnoli-West Chapels. Memorial donations are suggested for Readsboro American Legion through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
