Sandra Torchia, 74

CLARKSBURG, Mass. —  Sandra Ann (Denault) Torchia, 74 of Clarksburg, MA died Sunday October 8, 2023 at her home after a super strong 20-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born in North Adams, MA on July 23, 1949, a daughter of Lawrence Joseph and Alice Marie (Chalifoux) Denault. She attended schools in Clarksburg and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1967.

Sandra worked at Excelsior Process & Engraving for 37 years until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams and a 28 year member of the Readsboro American Legion Post #29 Auxiliary. Sandy absolutely loved fishing and trips to many casinos, her favorite was Saratoga, playing side by side with her very good Saratoga friend, Sue Briggs. She also enjoyed many years at her cabin in Searsburg, VT and working in her yard. Sandy always put others before herself and quietly helped older folks getting assistance.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Patrick Torchia whom she married on June 12, 1976 and one sister, Debbie (Allen) Kushnet of Clarksburg; and six brothers, Lawrence J. Denault Jr of San Diego, CA; William (Kathy) Denault of Pittsfield; Alfred (Teresa) Denault of Clarksburg; Ronald (Holly) Denault of The Villages, FL; Edward (Kathy) Denault of Clarksburg; and Gary Denault of Utica, NY. She also leaves 25 nieces and nephews; her sisters in law, Mary Denault of Adams; Cathy (Peter) Chenail of North Adams; Mary (Jeff) Lussier of Hudson, MA and her brother in law, Frank Torchia of Adams. She was predeceased by one sister and two brothers, Patricia Rondeau, Francis Denault and Daniel Denault.
