Janet E. Ziter, 85

ADAMS, Mass. — Janet Eleanor Ziter, 85, of Adams, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a short illness due to a fall. Born in Adams on January 24, 1938, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Dorothy Steele Brodeur, she attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School in 1956. 

On January 5, 1957 she married Frances Ziter, they were together for 58 years until his death in December of 2015. Janet worked many places in her lifetime, which she enjoyed. In addition to being a wife and mother of four, she was employed by the former Adams Supermarket as office manager and secretary for the former Arnold Print works and former Greylock Electric until she retired. 

After retirement, she continued working part time as a seamstress for ALADCO. Janet was a communicant of the parish of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams. She especially loved being part of Franklin Chapter No. 92, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was active for many years as past Worthy Matron, Deputy Grand Matron, Grand Representative and Trustee. 

In addition to her husband, Janet was predeceased by her son Edward Ziter in 2013 and her grandson, Thomas Oxton in 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Oxton, Lisa Fletcher and her husband Gary, and her son Eric Ziter, all of Adams, a brother, David Broduer and his wife Tina of Cheshire, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

There will be a celebration of life at a later date in December for family and close friends, there are no calling hours. The TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME in Adams is in charge of arrangements.
