Donald E. Lestage

ADAMS, Mass. —

Mr. Donald E. “Lester” Lestage, 84, of Williamstown, died Friday morning, September 22, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Adams on November 29, 1938, the son of Edward G. and Marion E. (Dickinson) Lestage. He attended Adams schools, graduating from the former Adams Memorial High School with the Class of 1958. Donald served with the US Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve from 1961 to 1967, and also served with the Massachusetts Army National Guard for several years.

Donald worked as a toolmaker at General Electric and its successors, Martin Marietta and Lockheed- Martin in Pittsfield until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of American Legion Post 152 in Williamstown, where he served as Financial officer for a time and was a life member of the Greylock Community Club in North Adams. He was an avid golfer and an expert at building and flying remote-controlled aircraft. He enjoyed working on cars and could fix anything. He could always be counted on to help anyone with a project.

Donald is survived by his wife, Irene (Adamczyk), whom he married on June 19, 1965; his two sons, Michael F. Lestage and his wife, Diane, of Manchester, NH and Paul J. LeStage and his wife Samantha of LaGrange, NY; his granddaughter, Margaux, of Manchester, NH; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Donald Lestage, Jr., and John Lestage.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Sept 29th at 12 Noon in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday morning from 10:00 AM until 12 Noon in the funeral home.
