Susan Crochiere,67

Susan M. (Newman) Crochiere, Age 67, passed away on September 15, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center following a courageous health battle with lung disease.

Sue was born on April 22, 1956 in North Adams. She was the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Malinowski) Newman. She had a happy childhood growing up on Tilda Hill Road in the town of Florida, MA. She grew up with her 5 siblings and 9 cousins who lived in the 2 houses next door. The neverending stories provided by this childhood are precious!

She attended Drury High school and graduated from North Adams State college in 1979 with a degree in Medical Technology. She worked for many years at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, MA.

In 1988 she was blessed with the birth of her son, Zachary John Crochiere. He was the center of her universe and in her later years he was her anchor and her reason to continue to fight against her illness. Sue provided a warm and loving space for Zach and his friends to pursue their interests and hobbies, and her house was often busy with visitors.

Earlier this year Zach and his wife Katie (Gop) gave Sue the best present of all, her grandson, Cullen Avery Crochiere. Sue, an artistic and crafty person, worked hard to complete her final project; a beautiful quilt for Cullen. She finished the quilt with help from her life-long best friend, Judy Arigoni.

Sue had many hobbies and interests. She was an avid reader, artist, and quilter. She gifted her loved ones objects she made and they will always be cherished. Sue loved animals and had pets of many species over the course of her lifetime. Her dog Boo was her constant companion during her last years.

Susan is survived by her son Zachary, her daughter-in-law Katie, and her grandson Cullen. She is also survived by her siblings: Christine (Jerry) Hurley, John J. Newman, Cynthia (Ronald) Bosley, Jill (Francis) Jourdenais, Katherine (Dan Clark) Newman, and her nieces, Veronica Bosley and Amanda Vivori.

A calling hour for Susan Crochiere will take place Friday September 22, 2023 from 11:00a.m and 12:00 p.m. t the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in the family plot in Church Cemetery, Florida, MA. Memorial donations are suggested for the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home. Sue was truly a kind and gentle spirit. I knew her from her time working in her uncle's store - Ed's Variety - where we had plenty of laughs over the years. My condolences to all her family...her light will be missed in this world!

It was an honor to be Susies friend and Coparent ,I greatly valued her opinions, we shared many a laugh and conversations especially about our children Katie and Zachary (Gop)Crochiere. I was in awe of her talents, and I keep her yearly Christmas cards hand painted in my Curio cabinet in full view. I had the honor and privilege of her caring and friendship and I will always cherish the past 18years of us watching our children grow from teenagers to two wonderful adults and parents . She loved her son Zachary with all her heart and opened her heart to Katie as her daughter in law. Thank you dear Susie for all you gave us in life and all you have taught us. You will forever be in my heart. Rest easy now my dear friend . To all the family my love to you all.
