Carol Lynn (Withrow) Jervey, 70
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Carol Lynn (Withrow) Jervey, 70, of Waldoboro, ME, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023.
Carol was born on June 21, 1953, to the late Reverend David and Martha (Wilson) Withrow in North Adams.
Carol graduated from Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro, Maine, in 1971. She met and married her husband, Allen, in North Adams. After a stay in the mid-coast area, where daughters Lisa and Rebekah were born, Carol and her family moved to Providence, R.I. where Allen was a student at Zion Bible Institute. Soon both Carol and Allen were serving on staff there, while enjoying the arrival of son Allen W. and daughter Sherill. Soon knitted into the fabric of Zion, Carol treasured this ministry above all befriending and mentoring many students along the way. It was common for the Jervey home to be full of students enjoying games, laughter, and always a delicious meal cooked by Carol.
In 1989, Carol and family moved back to mid-coast Maine where she and her husband remained until 2009. After spending a decade in Tennessee, they returned to Waldoboro in 2019. From 1992 until present, Carol led church music, ladies' ministries, and children's ministries, supporting her husband as he pastored churches in Rockland, ME, Kingsport, TN, Church Hill, TN and Waldoboro, ME. Serving the Lord faithfully, Carol manifested an amazing gift of uplifting and enriching others.
Shortly after returning to Maine in 1989, Carol was diagnosed with end stage renal failure and consequently spent nearly 35 years being treated with dialysis. Throughout these many years, Carol battled countless medical concerns, surgeries, and hospitalizations. Through a tenacious faith in Jesus Christ, and a tremendous strength and perseverance, she survived many incidences that should have resulted in death.
Carol (Mom and Mimi) was loving, selfless, and was so proud of her family. Her life was defined primarily by her love for Allen, her four children, and her eight grandchildren. Her passion for hosting and cooking will be fondly remembered by so many. Her sense of humor and overcoming spirit were appreciated by her many friends. She always had a song to sing. She modeled a life well lived and will forever remain in the hearts of the many lives she touched.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Allen; her children, Lisa, Rebekah, Allen, and Sherill; grandchildren Emily (John Breen), Colby, and Audrey, Josiah, Isaac, and Mia, and Annika and Elijah, and soon to be welcomed great-grandson John Oliver. She is also survived by her mother Martha Withrow; her sister, Sherill Creamer (Donald); and many extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held at Faith Temple Church of God, Belfast, ME 04915, on Wednesday, Sept. 13., from 5 to 7 pm. The memorial service will be held at Faith Temple on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 10 am. The service will be followed by interment at Friendship Cemetery, Friendship, ME and a reception at the Hahn Center in Friendship.
