Charles H. Bailey, 77

READSBORO, Vt. —  Charles Herbert Bailey, 77, of Readsboro, VT died on Thursday August 24, 2023 at his home.

He was born in North Adams, MA on September 23, 1945, a son of Albert Frank Bailey and Doris (Daniels) Bailey. He attended Drury High School, studied ceramic engineering at Pennsylvania State University, and physics at North Adams State College.

Charles served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He retired from Kennametal in South Deerfield, MA. Previously he worked as an engineer at Sprague Electric Company in North Adams, Deerfield Data Systems in Sunderland, MA, and State College, PA.

Charles was baptized in the First Congregational Church in North Adams. He enjoyed reading and playing golf. Charles also enjoyed maintaining his home after completely rebuilding and modernizing it. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren especially family vacations to the seashore.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Marie (Rondeau) Bailey whom he married on May 18, 1968 at St. John Bosco Chapel in Stamford, VT; one daughter, Jennifer (Michael Moore) Bailey of North Chelmsford, MA; and one son, Christopher (Erika) Bailey of Stamford, VT. He also leaves five grandchildren including Matthew Bailey, Abigail Bailey, Kendall Bailey, Nicholas Moore and Gregory Moore; one brother, Stephen (Marianne Canedy) Bailey of Clarksburg, MA and nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Service for Charles (Chip) Bailey will be celebrated Wednesday August 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of North Adams. Burial will be at a later date.
