Richard J. Maynard

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  

Mr. Richard Joseph Maynard, 99, of Cheshire, died on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Adams on November 4, 1923, son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Caron) Maynard. He attended schools in Adams and North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.

Mr. Maynard was a Veteran of World War II having served with the United States Navy until receiving his Honorable Discharge as Radioman Third Class on February 20, 1946.

Mr. Maynard worked as a computer analyst for the former Sprague Electric Company in North Adams until his retirement.

He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. He was very interested in American History and Native American Culture.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Marion Daignault, whom he married on September 12, 1964; his son, Don Maynard of Bernardston, MA; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Michelle Maynard; four great grandchildren, Kiersten and Khloe Maynard and Kason and Kolten Napier; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Boudreau and Helen LaCross.

Funeral services and burial will be private for the family.

There are no calling hours.
