Marie Lefevre, 97

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Marie Vincenza (Lentine) Lefevre, 97 of North Adams died Monday, July 24, 2023.

Born in North Adams on October 26, 1925, a daughter of Gaetano and Filomina Matasso Lentine, she attended North Adams schools. At the young age of 14, she began working on Main St. at Anes Sweet Shop next to the Mohawk Theatre. On her lunch break, she would sneak into the movie theatre. She would later meet the love of her life, “Lefty”. She married Adrien Gaston “Lefty” Lefevre on June 5, 1948 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. They would have 3 sons together; Philip (Shu-Gin) Lefevre of Norfolk, VA, Ronald Lefevre of Adams and Stephen Lefevre of Adams. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, and many more great grandchildren and even great, great grandchildren. She loved them all and was always excited to get new photos of them. She was the last surviving out of five siblings. She also leaves behind her former daughter-in-law Marilyn Lefevre, who was her caregiver for many years.

Marie was a great Italian cook and was especially known for her homemade pizza. Friends were always asking to be included in her pizza parties. If you stopped by, she always insisted you have a coffee and some homemade dessert. She was known for always bringing her doctors a treat. Back in the day, if you stopped by with a hole in your jeans or a button missing, Marie would fix it on the spot.

The Lefevre family would like to especially thank Julie and Annie from HospiceCare in the Berkshires. For all their loving care and the laughter, they brought to Marie.

To her wonderful family, what a beautiful tribute and view of all she was and all she did for so many… she was welcoming, caring, funny, and the best cook ever… I feel she lived her life for others, family, friends, and the extensions…there are very few that can put claim to these wonderful attributes, and have the spirit that she had… it is always very sad to say goodbye and my thoughts, prayers and love are with you all now, and in the days ahead~????

I am so sorry for your loss. I always remember meeting my mom at Marie's kitchen when I left school for lunch break. Her food was the best and I have a few of her recipes that are used often. Mom and Marie were such good friends. When mom went into the nursing home Marie would always call me for an update on her. Marie will be greatly missed.
