Michael A. Donovan, Jr., 38

ADAMS, Mass. — Michael A. Donovan Jr., a beloved father, son, and friend passed away on June 25th, 2023, in Veneta, Oregon. Michael was born in North Adams, Massachusetts, on July 27, 1984, to parents Michael A. Donovan Sr. and Bonnie Therrien.

Michael attended Hoosac Valley High school. After High School, Michael had Many restaurant jobs in the community and worked at NSK in Bennington VT for many years. His dedication to his work was unmatched. Michael was married to his wife, the mother of his daughters, Erica Cruz Donovan on September 18, 2010. Michael moved to Veneta, Oregon, in July of 2021. He worked for the American Market doing retail and managing the store. American Market owners and the Veneta community organized a Celebration of Life candlelight vigil in honor of Michael’s memory. His commitment to improving his community was commendable, and he will always be remembered for his contributions.

Michael enjoyed a lifelong passion for fishing, NY Yankee baseball, NY Giants football, men’s Softball, and playing pool in the APA Pool League. He found new interests in Oregon that included the Oregon Duck’s, rock collecting, and finding edible mushrooms in the forest surrounding his home. However, among all his interests, spending time with his children was what Michael cherished most. He was a long-time soccer coach for both of his daughters. He also attended many events with his son, Kolbe. He was a dedicated father who took great pride in his children's achievements. Michael's love for his family was evident in everything he did.

Michael is survived by parents Michael A Donovan Sr. and Bonnie Therrien, Candace Donovan, Dave Leonard, Raymond Huntoon, and Jolene Proctor. Grandparents, Anthony V. Donovan, and Barbara Donovan (Harding). His sister, Cheyenne E. Abott (Donovan). His wife and children, Erica Marie (Cruz) Donovan, Emily Maria Cruz, Ella Marie Donovan, Kolbe Leigh Donovan, his Aunt Tina Ziter, Uncle Anthony Donovan, and Aunt Pamela McHale. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Shirley and Donald Therrien.

In remembering Michael A. Donovan Jr., we celebrate a life marked by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his children and community. His laughter, warmth, and kindness will always be remembered by those who had the privilege to know him. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life of a man who touched so many lives and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

In the wake of this loss, we extend our deepest condolences to his Peterson cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him growing up. To family and friends thank you for your support.
