Robert Roy Moulton Jr., 66
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Longtime local businessman and civic leader Robert Roy Moulton Jr., 66, of North Adams died on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Berkshire Medical Center after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in North Adams on Sept. 25, 1956, a son of Carolyn (Cicchetti) Moulton and the late Robert Roy Moulton Sr.
Robert graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School, North Adams and was a member of the last graduating class in 1974. Robert owned and operated Moulton's Spectacle Shoppe in North Adams and Bennington, Vt., for many years with his family.
Robert was a communicant of the St. Elizabeth Parish Council and Finance Committee, and was a 3rd-degree member of Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the North Adams City Council and School Committee and was President of the North Adams Ambulance and an emergency medical technician. He started his EMS career in the late 1970s. He went on to be on the board of directors from 1985-2020. From 1996-2006, he was vice president and, from 2006-2020, he served as the board president. He was a Eucharistic adorer for 25 years, and a member of the Board of Directors. He was also a gun safety instructor and instrumental in the merger of the North Adams Ambulance Service and Village Ambulance. He also was the host of the "Let's Talk About It" television show on Northern Berkshire Community Television.
Robert enjoyed trips to Lake George, hunting, fishing, camping, softball, basketball, golfing, traveling, playing card games and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife, Bonny May (Gardner) Moulton, whom he married on Oct. 9, 1982; two children, Jessica Moulton (Jennifer Bixby) of Pittsfield and Robert Roy Moulton III (Katelynn) of North Adams. He also leaves a granddaughter, Alexa Moulton-Bixby. Robert leaves his siblings Mary Ann Meaney (John), Peter Moulton, John Moulton (Jenny), Theresa Denault (Michael), Mark Moulton (Cathy), Maria Moulton (Gary), Chris Moulton (Kerry), Roxana Moulton (James) and Matthew Moulton as well as many nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 10, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
