M. Norma Klein, 92
ADAMS, Mass. —
Mrs. M. Norma (Fortier) Klein, 92, of Adams, died Sunday evening, September 11, 2022 at Mount Carmel Care Center in Lenox. She was born in Adams on March 13, 1930, a daughter of the late John E. and Amy (Frese) Fortier. She graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1948. Following graduation, she and her husband, Nicholas R. Klein were married in Notre Dame Church Adams, on July 5, 1948, and enjoyed a full and wonderful life together. Nick died on April 2, 2003.
Norma was employed at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams from 1953 to 1956. She then did secretarial work for both the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District and C.H. McCann Technical School in North Adams, until retiring in 1985.
Norma and Nick traveled a great deal following their retirement, to many European countries, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, and to Hawaii several times. Wonderful and memorable times were spent with their grandchildren who accompanied them on many trips.
Her family and her home were the greatest joys of her life. She and Nick enjoyed music and dancing and dining out with friends. One of her pleasures was cooking and reading cookbooks, often having friends over for dinner. She was totally content with life and felt fortunate to have many wonderful friends. When she wasn’t working in her yard she enjoyed quilting, home decorating and walking.
leaves her beloved sons Kerry M. Klein of Windsor Pond, MA and Dennis P. Klein of Roswell, GA; her grandchildren Michael P. Klein of Salt Lake City, UT and Kelly M. Waller of Adams. She was predeceased by her sisters Evelyn Maslak, Ruth Hoellerich and Meta Gebrowski, and by her brothers Ralph Fortier, Jack Fortier and Edmund “Buster” Fortier, and her daughter-in-law Sharyn Klein.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd. Waltham, MA 02452.
