Robert H. Delisle, 88
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Robert Henry Delisle, 88, of 210 Phelps Ave. died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at his home.
Born in North Adams to Henry and Viola Belleau Delisle, he attended the former Notre Dame School and graduated from Drury High School in 1943. He also attended the University of Cincinnati.
A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific theater.
Mr. Delisle was employed for 40 years as a senior designer and draftsman with the transformer division of the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield and was granted a patent for the design of an insulating bushing.
He was a communicant and Eucharistic minister of the Parish of Sts. Patrick and Raphael in Williamstown. He had a communicant of the former Holy Family Church. He was a skilled craftsman and was meticulous in the maintenance of his home, yard and garden. Mr. Delisle was an avid golfer and a former member of the Retired Men's Bowling League.
He and his wife, the former Norma Tanner, were married Aug. 13, 1955, in the former Notre Dame Church.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves a son, Dr. Jeffrey Delisle and his companion, Julie Zelman, of DeFreestville, N.Y.; two daughters, Lisa Flynn and her husband, Dennis, of Beverly, and Laurie Calabrese and her husband, Frank, of Glenville, N.Y.; four brothers, Richard Delisle, James Delisle, John Delisle and Edward Delisle, all of North Adams; nine grandchildren, Thomas Flynn, Robert Flynn, Megan Flynn, Dewey Delisle, Phoebe Delisle, Derek Delisle, Olesya Delisle, Mallory Delisle and Benjamin Calabrese, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Michael Delisle, in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Delisle will be celebrated Tuesday, April 2, at 10 at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 1, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to St. Patrick's food pantry.
