SIXTH ANNUAL “HOFFMANN HACKERS” GOLF TOURNAMENT IS “FOR THE BIRDS”

LANESBOROUGH, MA – The Hoffmann Bird Club (HBC) of Western Massachusetts announces its Sixth Annual “Hoffmann Hackers Golf Classic” which could otherwise be known as “The Longest Bird.”
The event will take place at the Donnybrook Country Club, 775 Williamstown Road, Lanesborough, MA 01237, on Friday, June 22, 2018, starting with a “shotgun start” at 4:00 PM. The public is welcome to participate. The 9-hole golf tournament is a fundraiser for Berkshire County’s premier Ornithological Society. There will be a rain date of June 29th.
The entry fee for the event will be $40.00 per head, which includes placement on a team, 9 holes of golf, with carts included, and an all-you-can-eat barbeque/cook-out following the event. The format will be a “Captain and Crew” or “Best Ball”, but comes with a twist; Each team of four golfers is also responsible to note as many different bird species as possible during the tournament. The number of birds identified may be deducted from that team’s final golf score! Each team will be encouraged to have at least one good “Birder” and one good “Golfer”. There will also be prizes for “Closest to the Pin” and “Longest Drive”. Special prizes will also be awarded for “birdies” and “eagles.”
Non-Golfers are encouraged and welcome to come as spectators, and may pay a fee of $11.00 to participate in the barbecue, which will consist of hamburgers or cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, pickles, chips, and non-carbonated soft drinks. A raffle and other fundraising activities will follow the event.

HBC TAG SALE:
People can bring in any excess books (especially on birds or birding), birding equipment, or just anything that may sell. All items will be displayed at the HBC Golf Tournament, and all proceeds to go to HBC. ALL ITEMS LEFT UNSOLD SHOULD BE TAKEN BACK BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER.
The Hoffmann Bird Club was established in 1940 with a mission of promoting the study of birds in Berkshire County. The club was named in honor of Ralph Hoffmann a naturalist who was born in Berkshire County. See the website at: www.hoffmannbirdclub.org

Why not try a Fundraiser Tournament at Donnybrook?
Donnybrook is offering the unique opportunity to local
Not-For-Profit groups to have an interesting, fun and unique fundraiser.
Who can benefit?:
• Non-Profit Organizations
• Emergency Funds
• Memorial Campaigns
• Political Campaigns
• Sports Teams
• Churches or Temples
• Schools
• Boy Scouts / Girl Scouts
• Any non-profit
Here’s the deal:
1. Make a reservation for a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening
(September 2nd is excluded).
2. Your organization runs and handles the publicity. You will be
responsible for letting the public know about your event. Each
group will use its own channels to bring in people.
3. The format includes a 4:00 PM start (Shotgun Start, if over 28 people)
for the golf tournament.
4. Donnybrook includes 9-holes of golf, with carts, score cards and pencils.
5. Donnybrook will also include a barbeque cook-out, which will include;
hamburgers, cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, chips, salad, pickles,
and non-carbonated soft drinks. The outdoor barbecue starts at 6:00 PM.
6. The fee is $40.00 per golfer, which includes all of the above.
7. Golfers may organize in teams of 4. There is a limit of 18 teams per event.
There is a minimum of 5 teams.
8. Donnybrook will reimburse your organization $15.00 per player after
event is over.
9. Non-golfing guests are welcome to partake of the barbeque, and to come as
spectators for $10.00 per head.
10. In case of rain, a rain date will be assigned.
As an example; 24 golfers would yield your group $360.00, while 40 golfers would give your organization $600.00. A full 18 teams would bring in $1080.00 for your cause!
