A Soldiers Poem08-24-2007
Now we are in almost our fifth year of war in Iraqi, which was very wrong to get into. We destroyed a country. And perhaps the birthplace of mankind. We did all this because of the dummies of the White House and his Cabinet. But one thing I like to say, I'd like to have their brains, because none of them have ever used them - they are like new.
There have been 4,020 coalition deaths - 3,722 Americans, two Australians, 168 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, one Czech, seven Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 33 Italians, one Kazakh, one Korean, three Latvian, 21 Poles, two Romanians, five Salvadoran, four Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians - in the war in Iraq as of Aug. 22, 2007, according to a CNN count.
The list also includes seven employees of the U.S. Defense Department. At least 27,506 U.S. troops have been wounded in action, according to the Pentagon. I would like to share a poem for them.
A Poem For Our Soldiers Our Veterans Our Heroes!
A soldier stood and faced his God, Which frequently may always comes to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.
Step forward now, my soldier, how shall I deal with you at last?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To your Church have you been always so true?
The soldier Squared his shoulders and said, No, dear Lord, I guess I haven’t.
Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work many Sundays, and at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent, because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep!
Though I worked a lot of overtime, the bills kept getting very steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I quiver with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept many, many tears.
I know I don't deserve a place, among the populace here.
Countries never wanted me around, except to calm their fears.
If you've have a place for me here, Dear Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand.
There was a silence all around his throne, where the saints had often walk.
As the soldier waited quietly, for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, my soldier, You've swallow your burdens well.
My Soldier walk peacefully through Heaven's Gates, for you've done your time in HELL."

In closing I like to say, let's not forget it’s not the soldier that bring us to war but our government, and people's lack of interest in their government. So make sure you make your choice and hold all of our elected officials accountable for this. So if we are in a war that we believe that is not just, we must blame ourselves because we are not enough involved. When we complain about our government just remember the key word IS OUR GOVERNMENT. So take it back!
It's the Soldier and the veteran, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press! Let's remember it's the Soldier and the veteran, not the poet, who has given us the Freedom of Speech!
It's the Soldier and the veteran, not the politicians that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!
It's the Soldier and the veteran who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag!
It’s the Soldier and the veteran not the protester that gives us the right of assembly.
It’s the Soldier and the veteran not the court that gives us the right to property and home!
It’s the Soldier and the veteran not the government that gives us the right to vote and our freedoms! God bless America.
