NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Howard L. Evans, 92, of 27 Versailles Ave., died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at his home.
He was born on July 6, 1918, in North Adams, son of Walter and Minnie Ludwig Evans. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1936.
Mr. Evans was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as inventory control manager for 39 years until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was a member of the GE regulator golf league, and was a former member of Pontoosuc Golf Course.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah B. Taft Evans, who died Dec. 22, 1997. They were married on April 30, 1940.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra S. Evans of North Adams, with whom he resided, and son Howard W. Evans and his wife, Janice, of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Julie Ann Kucyn and her husband, Andrew, of Billerica, and William Evans and his wife, Shannon, of Burke, Va; and one great-grandchild, Timothy Kucyn.
He was predeceased by a brother, Everett Evans.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Howard Evans will take place on Monday, June 20, at 11:30 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 prior to the funeral. Donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire or a charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
