Adams—The Alert Hose Company of Adams and Adams Volunteer Fire Department hosted National Fireman’s Sunday ceremony on June 10. The second Sunday in June is designated as National Firemen’s Sunday.
A formal ceremony was held at 11 a.m. at the Bellevue Cemetery at an Alerts Memorial Shaft in Bellevue Cemetery. The guest speaker was Pittsfield Fire Department Fire Chief James Sullivan.

Events included an 8 a.m. church service the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Commercial Street.
Following the church service, firefighters attended breakfast at Adams Elks lodge on Center Street.
The Alerts were piped in and out of the Alerts Memorial Shaft area by Robert Tunnicliffe of the Berkshire Highlanders Pipe Band.
