May 15 Val’s 5 - Trimarchi Nurseries 2
Zach Brassard pitched 5 scoreless innings, allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 12, to pick up the win for Val’s. Shaun Knapp pitched the final inning in relief, striking out 2 batters. On offense, Brassard was the leading man at the plate as well by going 3 for 3, with 3 doubles and 2 runs scored. Steve Clermont collected 2 hits and an RBI, while Knapp, Mike Koperniak and Matt Waltermire each contributed with a hit for Val’s.
Zach Brassard shut down Trimarchi Nurseries over the first 5 innings and had 3 doubles to lead Val’s to a 5-2 victory. Mitch Carlow pitched well in the loss, striking out 7 in a complete game and contributed 2 hits. Andrew Milesi had a triple to drive in Carlow for Trimarchi’s first run and later scored on Evan LeMaire’s sac fly. Brassard scored in the first on a RBI single by Mike Koperniak followed by Matt Waltermire single and Steve Clermont drove in the second run in the first inning. Carlow gave up only one hit 'til the fifth when Brassard had his third double of the game. Koperniak walked and scored on Shaun Knapp’s double and who later scored his second run to account for Val’s five runs. Clermont singled but was left on base. Trimarchi’s last inning rally fell short as Knapp picked up the safe to secure a Val’s win. Trimarchi drops 0-6.
May 17 Police 9 - Elks 2
Josh Varno had a double and a RBI for the Elks, and Jesse Larabee had a single. Joe Gwozdz, the catcher, threw out a base runner and had an outstanding game behind the plate. Justin Nichols took the loss on the mound for the Elks.
May 17 Lions 8 - Val’s 5
Zach O’Neil was the Lion's winning pitcher, pitching 5 innings and striking out 11 batters and walking none.
On offense, O’Neil, Aaron Wojtaszek, and T.J. Therrien all had doubles; with Wojtaszek batting in 2 RBI’s and Therrien one RBI. Colby Gage had a hit and a RBI and Cody O’Neil had a single. Tyler Carpenter contributed to the win with a RBI.
Zach Brassard continued his torrid hitting for Val’s, once again going 3 for 3, including a triple and his 2nd homerun of the season. He also scored 3 of Val’s 5 runs. Brassard now has 12 hits in his last 13 at-bats, and is currently leading the team in hitting with a .722 batting average. Mike Koperniak continues to be the big RBI man, going 2 for 2 and driving in 2 runs to bring his team leading total to 9. Shaun Knapp also drove in 2 runs with a clutch single in the 5th inning, to bring Val’s to within 1 run.
Matt Koperniak and Steve Clermont also contributed with a hit apiece. On the mound, Knapp went the distance, with a gutsy performance, striking out 4 in a tough loss. Matt Waltermire and Matt Koperniak played some solid defense in the field for Val’s, which saw its 3 game winning streak come to an end.
