Pittsfield – Mayor James M. Ruberto has announced that Thursday, March 15th, 2007 is Tom Grieve Day in the city in recognition of the event Thursday evening at Taconic High School, where Mr. Grieve will speak and sign autographs.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m..
The event is a fundraiser for the First Home Plate organization, in its effort, in collaboration with the City of Pittsfield, to build a permanent monument in recognition of Pittsfield’s distinction as Baseball’s Garden of Eden.
“I am thrilled that Tom Grieve has decided to come back to Pittsfield to help us in this community effort,†said Mayor Ruberto. “He is truly one of the great players in Pittsfield’s proud baseball history, and continues today as one of the most respected people involved in Major League Baseball.â€
Tickets for the fundraiser are 10 dollars and will be sold at the door (while they last).
