North Adams - City Councilors will consider issues involving the city's taxi services during the March 13 City Council meeting. The matters were postponed during a Feb. 27 meeting.
The issues involve a city-issued taxi driver license and whether drivers who apply for the license and are approved actually retrieve the documents from the City Clerk's office. A proposal submitted by City Council President Gailanne Cariddi and Councilor Marie Harpin would require cab company owners to submit an update list of drivers twice yearly and impose a $5 a day fine for each day of failure to provide the list.
Additional proposals ask that all those seeking a cab driver's license appear before City Councilors. If approved for a license, the driver would have five days to retrieve the document from the City Clerk's office. Failure to do so would generate a city cab driver's license revocation and the individual would need to beginning the process again.
