Ribbon Roses And Decoupage Classes12:00AM / Tuesday, March 06, 2007
Pittsfield- Ribbon roses and decoupage are the focus of new craft workshops that Berkshire Community College is offering during March and April in Sheffield. Designed for the occasional or experienced crafter, all classes are taught by Nanette Wells and from 10 a.m. to noon.
“Ribbon Roses I†(WKS 637) teaches participants how to make ribbon roses that provide endless adornment possibilities with easy to use ribbon products. Each student takes home at least one long-stem ribbon rose. The class, which includes a $25 registration fee and an additional $5 for materials, meets March 20.
“Ribbon Roses II†(WKS 638) builds on the basic skill of making ribbon roses by working with harder to use materials. Students focus on using ribbon roses in a major project, where design and presentation effectiveness are of primary importance.
Possible projects include bridal bouquets and baskets, boutonnieres, all-occasion center pieces, wreaths, door sprays, and party favors.
Students must complete “Ribbon Roses I†before taking this workshop. A list of materials to be purchased by the student prior to the first class is provided upon registration. The registration fee is $65. Classes meet March 27, and April 3 and 10.
“3D Decoupage/Paper Tole I (WKS 630) teaches students how to produce three-dimensional effects by cutting, shaping, and reassembling multiple copies of the same paper image. This centuries-old craft lends itself to special occasion card keepsakes, statements in recessed frames, or scrap-bookers wishing to take their pages to another level of crafting.
Each student takes home a finished project. The registration fee for this one-session class is $20. The class meets April 17.
“3D Decoupage/Paper Tole II†(WKS 906) builds on the skills learned and achieved in the beginners course. By the end of the class, participants will have instructor-level expertise to work with personal projects, or to continue with an unfinished project from the beginner’s course. The registration fee is $20. The one-session class meets April 24.
