McCann Students Earn 35 Medals At SkillsUSA District Event12:00AM / Saturday, March 03, 2007
North Adams - Numerous students enrolled in Charles H. McCann Technical School high school and post-secondary curriculums participated during a SkillsUSA District Competition hosted by the Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School on Feb. 27.
Bay Path school is in Charlton, Mass..
There were 96 McCann students at the competition. McCann students earned 11 gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze medals at the event.
Students awarded medals are: Brett Gelinas, Stephen Senay, Andrew Heath, Nicholas Daniels, Eric Euchler, Kaci Cota, Joshua Neville, James Kemper, Justin Burdick,Collin Murdoch, Nate Pikula, A.J. Randall, Ethan Cohane-Mann, Nick Richards, Tim Lescarbeau, Toni Dubois, Brittany Burdick, Michelle Stone, Robert Zieba, Tina Devens, Heidi Benoit, Amanda Sayers, Kari Howland, Ryan O'Hearn, Melissa Vallieres, Christine Leal, Tammy Clark, Craig Hartman, Nate O'Hearn, Mark Therrien, Gary Munson, Jeanna Tinney, Mike Senay, Adam Fillion, and Michael Lawson.
Medals were won in technical and professional arenas including automated manufacturing technology,3-D animation, computer maintenance technology, culinary arts, dental assisting, medical assisting, internetworking, and technical computer applications.
Medal winners will be joined by additional McCann students for a SkillsUSA state level competition hosted at the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School April 26-28.
Those who achieve gold medal awards at state competition are qualified to progress to a national SkillsUSA event held in Kansas City, Missouri later this year. McCann students have won numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals at the national event over the past eight years.
The SkillsUSA organization boasts a membership of over 264,500 high school and college students and professional workers involved with technical, skilled labor, and service industry occupations. The national group lists 13,000 chapters nationwide and in Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands. |
