MCLA Student Inducted Into State Hall Of Black Achievement

English/Communications senior Brandon Pender recently was inducted into the Massachusetts Hall of Black Achievement at Bridgewater State College, in its' 19th year in celebration of the Hall of Black Achievement.
Qualifying guidelines included maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher,
involvement in academic activities, participation and leadership in
co-curricular activities and service to the college community.
Pender is a member of the men’s basketball team, the Multi-cultural
Student Society, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the College’s Dance Company. He was the recipient of the Margaret Hart and Mitchell West scholarships. He attended the NCAA Leadership
Conference and was a part of the Berkshire Hills Internship Program
(B-HIP) this past summer. as part of B-Hip, Pender worked for the Chuck Davis Project, a documentary film on African dance within American culture.
Every year, the Hall of Black Achievement ceremony honors and inducts
those who have made large impacts in society, such as Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. Charles Richard Drew. This year, the inductee was Malcolm X.
Pender plans to attend graduate school to continue his education in
broadcast media and film studies.
