MCLA To Host National Girls And Women In Sports Day12:00AM / Friday, January 12, 2007

Photo Courtesy of MCLA | North Adams – The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will celebrate its annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day event on Sat., Feb. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Amsler Campus Center Gym on the college campus.
Sponsored by the MCLA Athletic Department, this free event is for girls in grades 3 through 8. Attending this year’s event will be special guest Kay McMahon, an LPGA teaching professional, who will offer a golf clinic to the girls.
Additional clinics plan to focus on basketball, volleyball and
tennis.
McMahon has instructed golfers of all abilities, conducting golf clinics and seminars both nationally and internationally. In 2001, she was selected as one of the Top 400 Teachers in the U.S by Golf Magazine.
McMahon also was chosen as one of the Top 50 Teachers by Golf for Women Magazine in 2002.
The 1995 Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) National Teacher of the Year, McMahon also is a four-time recipient of the LPGA Western Section Teacher of the Year, and is a former National President of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division and served as president and vice president of the Western Section.
McMahon also received the LPGA President's Award for service and leadership in 1994.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Duluth, McMahon was a staff writer for Golf Digest magazine.
