Pittsfield - Drug and firearms charges led to convictions and incarceration for two city men who appeared at the Berkshire Superior Court on Nov. 21.
Joseph W. Brown, 34 West St., who is also known as Michael brown and "Bizzi", pleaded guilty to three counts of cocaine distribution, one count of possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card, one count of possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card,and one count of improper storage of a firearm.
Judge John Agostini ordered Brown serve a concurrent two-and-a-half to three-year state prison term at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on two counts of distribution of cocaine. Brown was placed on three years probation for the remaining cocaine distribution charge and concurrent sentences to the Berkshire County House of Correction on the firearms charges.
One count of assault and battery on a pregnant person, one count of intimidation of a witness and and one count of threatening to commit murder were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.
Joseph Thomas, 24, 66 Howard St. pleaded guilty to seven counts of distribution of heroin, three counts of drug violation within a drug-free school zone, one count of possession of heroin with intent to distribute and one count of being present where heroin is kept.
Judge John Agostini ordered Thomas to serve concurrent 18-month sentences to the Berkshire County House of Correction on the drug charges and two concurrent two-year terms at the Berkshire County House of Corrections,to begin on and after the 18-month sentences, on the drug violation within a school zone charges.
