Pownal, Vt. - An early morning Oct. 9 fire destroyed a one-story wooden garage.
Pownal Fire Protective Association and Pownal Valley Volunteer Fire Department firefighters were called to Scott and April Bump's 33 Palmer Drive residence at 5:55 a.m. and upon arrival at the property found flames and smoke surrounded the structure.
PFPA Fire Chief Craig O'Dell said that family vehicles were not inside the building but a motorcycle and miscellaneous items were among the structure's contents. The items were believed ruined in the fire.
The flames were extinguished within 10 minutes of the arrival of firefighters, O'Dell said. There were no injuries reported among the about 35 firefighters who responded to the scene.
O'Dell said that the cause of the fire has not been determined but the fire is currently not believed to be suspicious.
