Pittsfield - A Pennsylvania man was sentenced to one year at the Berkshire County House of Correction after he pleaded guilty to nine counts of possession of child pornography.
On one count, Judge Daniel Ford ordered Daniel A. Berger, 23, of Swarthmore, PA. to serve six months of the sentence in the jail and suspended the remaining six months. Berger was also placed on one year's probation. Ford sentenced Berger to six months in jail on the remaining eight counts, all to be served concurrently with the initial sentence.
Ford also ordered that Berger have no unsupervised contact with persons under age 18, possess no pornographic materials, allow any computer or computer equipment to be searched by members of the probation department or a probation department designee, participate and complete any sex offender program ordered by probation, and forfeiture of the computer involved in the charges.
Berger was charged after images of child pornography were found on his computer. The incident occurred in Williamstown between Dec. 23, 2004 and Feb. 11, 2005.
