Sheriff Massimiano Endorses Senate Candidate Chris Hodgkins12:00AM / Wednesday, August 02, 2006
On July 31, Berkshire County Sheriff Carmen Massimiano endorsed Chris Hodgkins, who is running to replace State Senator Andrea Nuciforo, at the Firehouse Cafe in Adams with 100 people in attendance.
"Chris Hodgkins has the experienced leadership to hit the ground running. He knows who sent him to Boston and why he was sent there. He has taken on the insurance companies, the big HMO's, and has always been able to get good results for the Berkshires. Chris has the experience, leadership, and quite frankly the courage to never let us down at the state house," Massimiano said.
Massimiano was elected Berkshire County Sheriff in 1978. Before becoming sheriff, Massimiano was chief probation officer of Berkshire Superior Court. As Sheriff, Massimiano operates a communication center in Pittsfield, providing emergency and non-emergency communications for police, fire, and ambulance service to twenty-three cities and towns. Massimiano also oversees the Berkshire House of Corrections, a juvenile resource center, maintains an underwater search and rescue team and other equally important tasks.
"It is a great honor to have Carmen supporting my campaign. He has been working for the people of Pittsfield and Berkshire County for decades. I look forward to working with him," Hodgkins said.
