Free "Kid's Night" events begin at the common at 6 p.m..
Farmer's Markets And Outdoor Movies
Farmer's markets are a weekly summer staple at the Depot Street parking lot; the markets are scheduled each Wednesday until the final Aug. 30 outdoor produce shopping venue. The markets open at 1 p.m. and close at 5 p.m..
"Movies Under The Stars" is already underway. The Friday night family films are shown on the Town Hall lawn. The event is free and families are asked to bring lawn chairs, towels, or blankets for seating. "Showtime" is at dusk each week.
On July 14, the movie "Nanny McPhee" is slated to be shown. "Cheaper By The Dozen 2" is listed for July 21, and "Dreamer" is the scheduled attraction for July 28.
August movies kick off with an Aug. 4 showing of "Aquamarine," followed by an Aug. 11 showing of "Glory Road." Aug. 16's choice is "The Polar Express" and the series concludes with a scheduled Aug. 25 showing of "8 Below."
Music And Art-On-The-Green
A 2005 Art-On-The-Green artist [Photo by Susan Bush] | Music aficionados may enjoy Tuesday night concerts on the Town Hall lawn. "Tom Corrigan and the Reformers" are expected to perform beginning at 6:30 p.m. July 18, followed on July 25 at 7 p.m. by an area group called "The Eagles Band".
On Aug. 1, Bob Bourdon and Chris Samson will perform at the Town Common at 6:30 p.m.. The Town Common will host the "Berkshire Hillsman" at 6:30 p.m. Aug.8, "Misty Blues" on Aug.15 at 6:30 p.m., and "Champagne Jam" at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 22.
"Art On The Green" is an art show that features local artists and is slated for July 29 at the Town Hall lawn from noon to 4 p.m..
Event Chairwoman Dawn Davis is seeking painters, photographers, sculptors and artistic crafters such as jewelry designers to host exhibits. Davis may be contacted at 413-743-1078.
A "Cruz Night" is set for the July 29 evening on Park Street from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m..
Pedal And Plod, Susan B. Anthony Days
The always-popular Susan B. Anthony Days begin on July 30 with a traditional "Pedal and Plod" road race event. Registration for "Pedal and Plod" begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Town Common.
A Park Street Fair, also a Susan B. Anthony Days tradition, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. July 31 with a rain date of Aug. 1. Street vendors, children's games, music and other entertainment line a closed-to-vehicle traffic street for the evening.
Adams Agricultural Fair At Bowe Field
The Adams Agricultural Fair at Bowe Field is scheduled for an Aug. 4 Friday evening opening. Evening events include an exhibit of "street rods," classic vehicles and customized rides that begins at 6 p.m., a truck pull scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., and a children's pedal tractor pull, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.. The fair gates open at 10 a.m. on Aug. 5 and events include a 10:30 a.m. fair "prince" and "princess," and pony pull and horse pull event beginning at 11 a.m., a firemen's muster beginning at 12:30 p.m., and a variety of children's entertainment and musical
performances.
"Minor Setback" is scheduled to provide music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m..
Aug. 6 events include an 11 a.m. oxen pull and a 12:30 p.m. "Dancecapade" presentation. A demolition derby is set to rumble forward beginning at 2 p.m.. Sheep dog demonstrations are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the Cheshire cheerleaders are expected to perform beginning at 1:30 p.m.. The Adams Turners are scheduled to perform at 3:30 p.m..
Youth cattle, sheep, and goats judging is set to occur at 10 a.m. and an awards ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 p.m..
Adams Agricultural Fair 2005 quilt exhibit | Admission to the fair is $5 per day per adult, $1 per day for children up to age 12, and $10 for a three-day fair pass. Carnival attractions operated by Bowdoin Amusements will be on-site.
A "Polanka" celebration is scheduled for Aug. 27 on Mill Street beginning at 1 p.m..
