Williamstown Crash

Williamstown â€“ A town resident was taken to the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after the vehicle she was driving crossed traffic lanes and struck an oncoming vehicle.

The Oct. 5 crash occurred on Cold Spring Road near the Le Jardin restaurant at about 11:54 a.m., police said.

According to police, Nancy K. Agostini, 51, of Grandview Drive, was driving a 1999 Dodge Caravan northbound along Route 7 when the vehicle was struck by a second Dodge Caravan that was in the southbound lane and was driven by 57-year-old Margaret Daniels, of Simonds Road.

Daniels was taken to the hospital by the Village Ambulance Service. No further information about her condition was available.

Agostini was not transported to a hospital from the scene, police said.

Witnesses reported that the Caravan being driven by Daniels veered to the right of the roadway and onto a grassy area, then swerved back out onto the road, crossed the center lane marking line, struck a guardrail, and then collided with Agostiniâ€™s vehicle, police said.

Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage and were towed from the scene, police said.

Town police Sgt. Paul Thompson, of the police departmentâ€™s Crash Investigation Unit, is investigating the crash. Whether charges will be filed will depend on the results of the investigation.
